About the Escalation League

Welcome to the Cedar City Warhammer 40k Escalation League! This is a community league built around the launch of 11th Edition, designed to ease players into the new edition while building a thriving local 40k scene.

We start at 500 points and escalate to 2,000 points over the season — giving everyone time to learn the new rules, assemble new models, and grow comfortable at each army size before stepping it up. There are no pre-set pairings or pods; you reach out to anyone in the league and schedule a game that works for both of you.

Whether you're brand new to Warhammer, returning after a break, or a competitive player looking to get reps in with the new edition — this league is the place to be. All skill levels are welcome.

How It Works
1
Submit your player profile
Head to Join the League and fill in your name, faction, and Discord handle. Free to join — no entry fee.
2
Get approved & show up on the Players page
An admin reviews your profile — usually within 24 hours. Once approved you appear on the Players page and you're in.
3
Schedule games with anyone in the league
No pre-set pairings. Reach out to any league member on Discord, pick a point tier that works for both of you, and get a game in whenever you can.
4
Submit your result & rate your opponent
After each game, head to Submit Match. Fill in the result and privately rate your opponent's sportsmanship — both players are encouraged to submit their own version.
5
Season closes with community awards
At the end of 12 weeks the admins recognise Best Painted, Best Themed Army, and Best Sportsmanship. To be eligible you must have completed at least one game at each of the four point tiers. Every participant is entered in the store credit prize draw.
Season Awards
Award Eligibility: To be considered for any season-end award, players must complete at least one game at each point tier (500, 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000 pts). League play begins Sunday, June 28th — the day after the launch event. Games played at the June 27th launch event do not count toward tier requirements.
🖌️
Best Painted Model
Recognised for outstanding paintwork on a single model or centerpiece miniature.
⚔️
Best Themed Army
Awarded to the army with the most cohesive, creative, or narrative theme across the force.
🤝
Best Sportsmanship
Given to the player who best exemplifies fair play, positivity, and generosity on and off the table.
+
Prize Draw
Store Credit — Combat Patrol Value
Every player who participates in the league is entered into a draw for store credit equal to a Combat Patrol box. The more you play, the more you're part of the community — and the draw is open to everyone.

Code of Conduct

By participating in our league, all players enter into an implied agreement to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship and community spirit. We believe that Warhammer 40k should be challenging, fair, and above all, enjoyable for everyone involved.

Core Principles:

  • Be kind and generous to your opponent at all times
  • Communicate clearly throughout your games – explain your actions, ask questions when uncertain, and be patient when rules interactions arise
  • Be as descriptive as possible during gameplay to avoid "gotcha" moments – clear communication prevents misunderstandings and keeps games flowing smoothly
  • Work collaboratively with your opponent – remember, you're both working together against the game!

Remember: While we're all here to compete and strive for victory, we're also human beings who are dedicating significant time from our busy lives to enjoy this hobby together. Be mindful of your opponent's time, be respectful of different skill levels and experience, show leniency when appropriate, and maintain open communication throughout each match.

Our goal is to continue to break the negative stereotypes often associated with competitive gaming communities.

It is an escalation league. Have fun with it and loosen up while we learn the edition!

At the end of the day, we're all here to have fun, improve our skills, and build a stronger local 40k community.
